Nexus One Linpack Run?
Jan 3rd
Ok, who did it? If you look at the Top10 runs for Linpack, you’ll see a 7.039 run with no description or notes. It was entered just before Christmas and I wondered if someone with the new Nexus One ran the Linpack benchmark to see where it placed. I think my suspicions are now confirmed with an article over at the NexusOneBlog. They have an excellent review of the new smartphone and they ran some benchmarks verses the Droid:

From my calculations, the Linpack number of 7.039 is almost exactly 67% faster than the average Droid number of 4.7.
So if someone who has a Nexus One, post a “real” number PLEASE?!
New Year’s Prediction
Jan 2nd
Here goes my one and only New Year’s Prediction: Google Android will pass Windows Mobile in Sales.
Will Android beat out Apple this year? No, I don’t think so. They are still too dominate and Apple doesn’t stand still long. Microsoft is the one that will fall behind. From the chart below, you can see the trend. Android will build in market share at the expense of Microsoft, Linux and Symbian. Eventually it will be a three horse race, Symbian still holding on, but just barely. 2011 could be the year for Android.

Motorola Calgary / DROID Devour in Silver
Jan 2nd
BGR has some new photos of the Motorola Calgary in Silver – looks nice.

The device has Wi-Fi, GPS, a 1420mAh battery, but unfortunately no SIM card slot as it is not a global device. Whether the unit will come in multiple colors or not is not confirmed as these are still non-final units, but I’d bet on it being available in black as well as silver. They did say that the keyboard is nice to use, even if it is a Chiclet style.
